Some of the highlights of Visual Studio 2022 – 17.5:
All-in-one search: A new unified search experience that allows you to quickly find anything you need in Visual Studio, such as commands, files, settings, symbols, NuGet packages, and more. You can also use natural language queries to get intent-based suggestions that match your goals.
API development inner-loop: A streamlined workflow for creating and testing RESTful APIs using ASP.NET Core or Azure Functions. You can easily create new endpoints, generate OpenAPI specifications, run and debug your APIs locally or remotely, and use tools like Postman or Swagger UI to test them.
Unreal Engine Blueprint References and Asset Inspector: Two new features for Unreal Engine developers that make it easier to navigate and inspect blueprints and assets in Visual Studio. You can now see all the references of a blueprint node or variable in a dedicated tool window, and view detailed information about any asset file in your project.
Macro Expansion Improvements: A set of enhancements for C++ developers who work with macros. You can now see the expanded form of a macro invocation in a tooltip, use Go To Definition and Find All References on macro names and parameters, and refactor macros using Rename Symbol.
New Linux Capabilities: A number of new features for C++ developers who target Linux platforms. You can now use remote headers IntelliSense mode to get accurate code completion without copying header files from your remote machine, debug Linux core dumps directly from Visual Studio, and deploy your Linux projects using SSH.
Layout configuration management: A new option for enterprise administrators who want to customize the layout of Visual Studio for their organization. You can now create layout configuration files that specify which components should be installed or uninstalled by default, which workloads should be visible or hidden in the installer UI, and which settings should be applied after installation.
Visual Studio 2022 17.5 brings also many other enhancements for .NET development, modern C++ development, game development, cross-platform development, and enterprise management.
